Television via Internet Protocol
IPTV, which stands for Internet Protocol Television, opens the door to distributing television channels over data networks. For offices and hotels, for example, with a UTP network, integrating IPTV in specific locations such as rooms or workspaces is straightforward. To watch television on a ‘regular TV,’ an external IPTV tuner (Set-top box) or a television with a built-in IPTV tuner is required, along with software such as Device Manager or Middleware to view IPTV streams.
Three grades of IPTV
IPTV comes in three grades. Standard IPTV is a simple, non-interactive system that works through an STB software tool. Interactive IPTV uses specialized middleware, allowing for interaction and regular information updates. Television for mobile devices uses an OTT server to offer television channels for viewing on smartphones or tablets via a standard browser.
